Julia Berg, LPC-Associate, trauma therapist in Austin, Texas hi, hello Austin, TX
Hi, I'm Julia

The therapist I needed, for the people who needed one too

I help adults who look like they have it all together, but quietly feel numb, self-critical, and unsure of what they need, find their way back to themselves.

My story

Why I do this work

I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to feel safe in their own skin, and because I know how quietly that sense of safety can go missing. So many of us grew up in homes that weren't dramatic or dangerous, just emotionally absent. Our feelings went unnamed. Our needs felt like too much. And we learned, very young, to manage on our own.

That kind of early experience doesn't always leave an obvious mark. It shows up later as the high-achiever who feels empty, the helper who can't ask for help, the person who looks fine and feels alone. Those adaptations were never flaws. They were brilliant, protective responses to a world that didn't quite meet you. And what adapted can heal.

My work is collaborative, and never about pushing you to relive the past. It's about slowly building the safety, self-connection, and compassion that maybe no one taught you, until being with yourself feels less like a battle and more like coming home.

A little more about me

Beyond the therapy chair

The stuff that doesn't fit on a credentials list.

What refills my cup

Being in the water, chasing a new travel destination, and a really good movie night.

You'll usually find me

Learning a new dish in the kitchen, hanging out with my best friends, or walking my dog around the lake.

Nora the dogLil' Richie the cat

My co-pilots

I love my dog, Nora, and my cat, Lil' Richie, though neither of them pays rent, and both act like they own the place anyway.

My big three

Taurus sun, Virgo moon, Scorpio rising, make of that what you will.

"You don't need to be fixed. You need to be met, and that's exactly what we'll do together."

What I believe

How I hold this work

01

You set the pace

We never move faster than feels safe. Healing isn't a race, and your nervous system gets a say in everything we do.

02

You're not broken

Every part of you, even the critical or numb ones, adapted for a reason. We meet them with curiosity, not judgment.

03

The relationship matters

Being truly seen and responded to, maybe the thing you didn't get enough of, is itself part of the healing.
